Broome was originally founded in the 1880s as a port for the pearling industry and is now one of the top holiday destinations in Australia. It is situated between the azure blue Indian Ocean and a vast red desert, far from any of Australia's capital cities. Broome is just over 2,000kms from Perth and just under 2,000kms from Darwin. There is an International airport in Broome which during tourist season, is the destination for flights from around the world and also direct flights from Melbourne & Sydney.
